It exists and it’s called Edifi: My favorite part about it is when they try to compare it to a Kindle and Nook… they *know* the quality in the other products is better, but look at what the Edifi has! (Click to enlarge) HA! We have 27 pre-installed Bibles and they have none! Of course, you can always buy one for free from Amazon… but still. PRE-INSTALLED! I feel bad for the poor kid who’s going to get this for… Read more
While many athletes are busy training for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, some female competitors are undergoing treatment to become less masculine. In an article at the Toronto Star, it has been revealed that the International Association of Athletics Federations have named themselves the gatekeepers of gender in sports: “…recent rule changes by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the governing body of track and field, state that for a woman to compete, her testosterone must not exceed the male… Read more
The article starts out pretty typical… [Ezekiel] Stoddard said he was motivated to become a minister after God spoke to him in a dream and told him to read Psalm 23. “God gave me that particular scripture because a lot of people, they try to draw you away from the lord, trying to get you on the wrong path,” he said. So now he’s been ordained as a pastor. Just one thing: he’s 11-you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-me-years-old: video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player “A… Read more
It’s not unusual to support an organization with which you don’t always agree. It is entirely normal to pick the party that most closely aligns with your views and tolerate the other positions they hold. However there is something downright strange about supporting a party that expresses deep antipathy towards who you are. Such is the plight of atheist Republicans. Mind you, I’m not saying there’s anything strange about being an atheist conservative, or at least an atheist fiscal conservative…. Read more
The House of Representatives held a hearing on Wednesday regarding “The American Muslim Response to Hearings on Radicalization within their Community.” It’s basically a witch-hunt against Muslims, suggesting there are many radicals out there hell-bent on destroying America and they have the support of the wider Muslim community. Of course, we know there are terrorists out there who are Muslim, but to suggest the problem lies with Islam and not the people who distort the faith to their own advantage… Read more
This week, Vice President Joe Biden (who has a history of advocating for women’s rights) released a new public service announcement about stopping violence against women. From the White House website: Despite the significant progress made in reducing violence against women, there is still a long way to go. Young women still face the highest rates of dating violence and sexual assault. In the last year, one in 10 teens have reported being physically hurt on purpose by a boyfriend… Read more
There’s a glowing profile of Secular Coalition for America founder Herb Silverman at Tablet Magazine. He’s the author of the just-released book Candidate Without a Prayer, which (among other things) documents the time he ran for Governor of South Carolina: In 1989, Silverman learned that the South Carolina Constitution prohibited anyone who “denied the existence of the Supreme Being” from running for public office. Silverman had to pick up the gauntlet. It was in his nature. He was 47, unmarried,… Read more
Have you seen that awful video of bus monitor Karen Klein being mercilessly mocked by a group of middle school thugs? Karen Gushta of Truth in Action Ministries knows why that bullying occurred: Because those kids didn’t have enough Jesus in their lives: [Gushta] believes this cultural demise began when prayer was taken out of public schools. “Since that time, the character of our children has gone into a downward spiral,” she laments, “and that’s why I view this as… Read more
