I know there are a lot of Christians who oppose abstinence-only sex-education, but rarely is it ever phrased this honestly (and in a Christian publication, no less!): … if I were an unmarried Christian considering sex in my intimate relationship, church would not be my go-to place for contraceptive consultation. Information is readily available online, from peers, a doctor, or a local drugstore. By presenting young adults with choices that shut down conversation and relationship (either do it God’s way,… Read more
***Update***: According to the “Let Dominic Speak” Facebook page, the principal spoke to students today: Denny Starnes, principal of Sacred Heart Academy addressed the senior class today. This weekend is the Freethought Festival 2012 in Madison, Wisconsin — it’s free of charge, there are *tons* of awesome speakers there, and it’s getting some good local press: I’m giving a talk on high school atheists Saturday afternoon, but you’ll want to be there for as much of this conference as you can. However, if people take the fake medicine in lieu of actual medicine, their bodies could be getting worse when they should be getting better. CFI also wants to help anyone in America who has suffered because they took homeopathic medicine: CFI is willing to assist… Read more
Earlier today, Ana Kasparian and John Iadarola of TYT University talked about the hatemail sent to Jessica Ahlquist a few weeks ago: It really is hard for me (and, I would hope, most of you) to understand what goes through the mind of someone who has that much hate inside of them. What compels them to write something like that? If it’s all just empty threats, what do they hope to accomplish? Do they just want to instill fear in… Read more
