First of all, Todd VanDerWerff, writing for the AV Club, has the best review of God’s Not Dead you’ll read all day, calling the film a bust even by Christian movie standards: Read more
Just yesterday, we posted about how World Vision, an international Christian charity that ranks as one of the largest charities in the world, was reversing its hiring policy. World Vision U.S. president Richard Stearns said that Christians who are in legal same-sex marriages could still be employed with the organization: Read more
A few weeks ago, I posted an excerpt from a new book called True Reason: Confronting the Irrationality of the New Atheism, edited by Tom Gilson and Carson Weitnauer. Their goal was to refute some of the claims made by popular atheists. While I don’t normally post excerpts from Christian books, I though this one would be interesting because the editors agreed to respond to your comments (and criticism). And Tom Gilson has done just that. Below is his response to many of the points you all made. I inserted links where I thought they would be helpful, but his response is otherwise unedited: Read more

If you’re in California and you’d like your next governor to be a sex offender and a convicted felon with a history of violence, look no further than Glenn Champ, one of the current crop of six gubernatorial GOP candidates. Glenn Champ, 48, addressed hundreds of GOP delegates and supporters Sunday at the site of the state party’s semi-annual convention. Introduced by party chairman Jim Brulte and allotted 10 minutes, Champ spoke in between the main GOP candidates, former U.S. Treasury official Neel Kashkari and state Assemblyman Tim Donnelly of San Bernardino County. Champ, a little-known political neophyte from the Fresno County community of Tollhouse, did not directly mention his criminal past during his speech but said, “In my life, I’ve been held accountable because of my stupidity. I do not want anyone else to be enslaved because of their lack of knowledge.” There’s a record of Champ’s “stupidity.” It’s called a rap sheet. Read more
