God is being petitioned to bring David Bowie back to life, because, frankly, us Earthlings are not taking “dead” for an answer. The Change.org petition titled “Say no to David Bowie dead” (to the point, I like it) began in Rome by Andrea Natella two days ago and quickly picked up steam on Twitter. Makes sense, I suppose. A meat processing plant in Fort Morgan, Colorado has fired around 190 Muslim workers, mostly Somali immigrants, after they walked off the job, protesting that the employer wouldn’t allow them time to pray. The strike at Cargill Meat Solutions began on December 21, a few days after employees were allegedly told by a supervisor, “If you want to pray, go home.” After three consecutive days of not calling or showing up, strikers were fired. The workers are being represented by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in an effort to negotiate their jobs back and waive the company’s policy of not rehiring any terminated employee within six months of departure. Looks like this theist was too busy during Christmas to find time to commit a misdemeanor, so vandalizing an atheist holiday billboard with the words “GOD’S NOT DEAD” had to be put off until the new year. The billboard, located on I-25 in Fountain, Colorado, is part of American Atheists’ annual campaign to help closeted atheists recognize they’re not alone. It serves as encouragement for opting out of the religious aspects of the holidays. Read more
