It looks like Ken Ham and his acolytes at the Creation Museum are teaching children a new skill: Archery. To me, providing such programs is a part of helping families to provide wholesome Christian-run programs for families and their friends, and at the same time, use it as a way of reaching others with the message of the truth of God’s Word and the gospel. Nooooooooooooo! They’re going to shoot us with Jesus! (I kid, I kid… but I’m still… Read more
Just as quickly as the PA Nonbelievers’ slavery billboard was torn down… … Lamar Advertising has replaced it with a different billboard altogether: Overnight, someone removed part of the sign, probably with a knife, said Andrew Rebuck, general manager of the Lamar Advertising office in Lemoyne. The company put up a different image at 8 a.m. Wednesday, he said. Brian Fields, the president of the PA Nonbelievers, tells me American Atheists will reimburse them $650. (The total cost for the… Read more
This morning, the future of the Hebrew billboard reaching out to closeted atheists in the Orthodox Jewish community was uncertain, but it looks like American Atheists found a home for it: The atheists had to settle for placing the billboard above the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway near Meeker Avenue — about a mile and a half north of the Hasidic enclave in South Williamsburg. … David Silverman, the president of American Atheists, denied that the billboards were intended to be provocative. “It’s… Read more

Remember the billboard in New Zealand that stated “Jesus Heals Cancer” and contained tally marks indicating how many people had been “cured” by Jesus? Turns out the ad by the Equippers church generated all sorts of outrage, prompting the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) to investigate. Maybe they’re just trying to avoid any sort of punishment, but the church has removed the ad… and replaced it with one that reads: “Jesus heals every sickness and every disease — Matthew 4:23” *Sigh*… Read more
That didn’t take very long… Just one day after being put up, the PA Nonbelievers’ billboard has been vandalized: The billboard was a response to the “Year of the Bible” Resolution passed by the state’s House in January. The atheists quoted a particularly controversial Bible verse in the hopes that they would encourage viewers to take another look at the Holy Book. Brian Fields, the president of the PA Nonbelievers, has issued an apology (I don’t think it’s necessary) to… Read more
American Atheists’ Arabic and Hebrew billboards were supposed to go up yesterday in Brooklyn, but one of them has already hit a snag: Apparently, calling out the Jews who just go through the motions at Synagogue and telling them they have a choice about the matter is too offensive for some people. When Clear Channel workers came to a Brooklyn apartment to install the billboard, the landlord refused to let them in: … at the last minute, landlord Kenny Stier… Read more
The Secular Alliance of Indiana University found a clever way to raise money earlier this semester. They set up shop in a well-traveled part of campus, put out cups with the names of different faith organizations on them, and asked passers-by to donate to the cup of their choosing. The atheists said they would attend a service for whichever “faith cup” earned the most. Meanwhile, half the proceeds would go to Doctors Without Borders (while the other half supported the… Read more
Guess what just went up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania today? More background on that billboard here. The PA Nonbelievers have responses on their website to many of the questions they’ve been receiving in response to the billboard. Read more
