What advice would you offer a teenager who has just become an atheist but isn’t sure what to do now that her faith in God is gone? Specifically, what would you suggest regarding how to deal with family? Friends? When to tell people she’s not religious? How to meet other atheists? What to read? When to keep her mouth shut? Which groups to join? Anything, really. Read more
Both Barack Obama and John McCain are going after the Evangelical vote. Obama seems to have the momentum with that group, though, which is a bit of a surprise. How has John McCain responded? With a desperate campaign aimed at Christians who’ve forgotten they’re supposed to vote Republican. Laurie Kilmartin of the 23/6 parody site shows us the posters McCain will be using to woo the religious voters: And there are a few more where those came from 🙂 [tags]atheist,… Read more

The right wing Heritage Foundation is blasting Obama for being so damn non-discriminatory about his faith-based initiatives plan: … even worse, Obama’s plan says that when a faith-based organization takes federal dollars, it would lose its ability to preserve its faith-based character through maintaining hiring standards consistent with its mission. It could be forced to hire an atheist. In other words, it would strike at the heart of the faith-based initiative. When even the Christian Right dislikes what Obama’s doing,… Read more

As atheists, there are plenty of questions we’re used to hearing: Where do you get your morals from? What is the ultimate meaning of life? Why is there a baby’s arm in your mouth? But what questions are you never asked? Are there any questions you wish people would ask you about your atheism? Read more
It may not be friendly (or PG-13) or atheist-related… but it’s definitely clever. My friend Roy was wearing this shirt the other day: I didn’t get it. It looked Greek. Then he folded it up a bit… Hehe 🙂 I’m easily amused. That shirt’s brought to you by Razorcake. Read more
