We found out late Monday night that the School Board had given a group permission to hand out Bibles at our schools. You have to wonder why high school administrators don’t do their due diligence when bringing speakers into their buildings… Back in August, the Rio Rancho Public Schools (New Mexico) brought in a group called “The Future Champions of America” to teach students how to stay strong against “illegal drug use, drinking and driving, dropout rates, suicide and bullying.” The main speaker/performer was Jason “White Shadow” Gibbons, who shared that message while also showing off some of his basketball trick shots. Minneapolis just ordained its first transgender priest this week, but you probably won’t be reading a statement from the Pope about it. The North American Old Catholic Church, an independent branch of Catholicism not affiliated with the Vatican, ordained Shannon T.L. Kearns to the priesthood on January 19th. Kearns is a transgender man with a track record of advocating for LGBT people in interfaith circles.
