Christian Author: God Sent COVID to Punish Us for Promoting “the LGBT Agenda”

Was COVID transmitted to humans through a bat? Was the virus created in a lab?

No and no, says End Times author William Koenig. On Sunday, speaking on Jan Markell’s “Understand The Times” radio show, he insisted that God unleashed COVID upon the world to punish us for being too pro-LGBTQ rights.

When Markell said that LGBTQ activists are trying to get children to “question their sexuality so they can be groomed and be evangelized,” Koenig readily agreed.

“I really sense that COVID is part of the judgment,” Koenig said. “We had a national shutdown last summer. We had every major sports league that favored the LGBT agenda, that even took on states for their bathroom bills. When you think about Hollywood was shut down. We thought fashion was shut down. Retail was shut down. All these areas that were so pro-LGBT, the COVID shut them down, and I don’t know if they’ll ever recover.”

“Don’t touch the children,” he continued. “This crosses the line. It is tragic to see what they’re doing, and our God is going to respond even greater. This is judgment. This is a pattern of judgment. Everything about this fits the pattern of judgment; I’m sorry, there’s no other way to put it.”

Churches were shut down too. So were Christian ministries. You could even argue that Republicans lost control of the White House and Senate due to Donald Trump‘s mishandling of the pandemic. So even though his argument shouldn’t be taken seriously, it doesn’t even make sense.

Nor does the idea that America is really “pro-LGBT.” While LGBTQ people have gained more acceptance in society, there are still plenty of places in the country where same-sex couples can’t show affection, no matter how innocuous, for fear of violent reprisal. The Equality Act, which would prevent discrimination in areas like employment, housing, and education, still hasn’t passed in a Democratic-controlled Congress. Our society still has a long way to go.

At any rate, there’s no reason to think God sent COVID to punish the world for one country’s alleged move toward tolerance. There are far better things God could punish us for and claiming that God took over 600,000 American lives (including liberals and conservatives) as revenge doesn’t speak well of his own faith.
