Christian Liar Sarah Huckabee Sanders Announces Run for Governor of Arkansas

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who spent nearly two years lying to the public on behalf of Donald Trump, has officially announced her long-expected bid to become governor of Arkansas in 2022, following in the footsteps of her father.

She’s following his campaign playbook, too, making it clear that her Christianity is one of her selling points.

… My opponents are already turning their fire on me. But here’s the truth: As White House Press Secretary, I never had to worry about the far left and their allies at CNN and the New York Times defining me. Because I have a Creator who’s already done that. I’m a Christian…

That’s a very long way of saying she has no real principles worth holding, but maybe the “Christian” label will fool enough people into thinking she’s trustworthy despite years of on-camera evidence to the contrary. Hell, she’s lying in that very clip: I assure you the “far left” doesn’t count CNN or the New York Times as allies.

There are no prominent Democrats in the race just yet, but several other Republicans have thrown their hats into the ring. It makes sense. As a reliably red state, the real battle will be in the Republican primary.

Here’s something else to keep in mind: State Sen. Jason Rapert has already announced his bid to run as Lt. Governor. He’s the Christian Nationalist who installed a stand-alone Ten Commandments monument outside the State Capitol, caught COVID after preaching at a mask-optional church, and threatened me for doing things like quoting him.

A state run by the two of them would effectively turn Arkansas into a Christian theocracy. Wherever the Constitution limits their power in that regard, you can expect them to challenge it. Anything to please Jesus and hurt Muslims, atheists, and progressive Christians. They would make Texas look downright liberal. And none of it would be good for the people in their state. None of it would ever make young people want to move there — or stay there if they can help it.

Unfortunately for Arkansas, there are enough voters who will fall for this grift, thinking someone’s faith makes them qualified to manage a state. If Trump’s ignorance and toxicity hasn’t convinced them otherwise, then they’re going to learn that lesson the hard way in a couple of years.
