Remember when Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal warned Republicans about being the “stupid party”? As we’ve know by now, that seems to have been more of a “do as I say” moment since Jindal’s own actions haven’t lived up to the rebranding he was going for. On Tuesday, Jindal and conservative talk show host Steve Deace were discussing whether or not the political climate had progressed to a point where it was “too late” for America. Based on their experience at the Iowa “Pastors and Pews” event, they didn’t think they were there yet. There was still hope, Deace felt, because he had seen so many attendees who were “anxious to fight as long as a general… arises to sort of lead the way.” Jindal agreed, although he said, “the stakes are high, and it’s bigger than we realize.” How so? Well, along with the national debt, he warned of the “dangers” of the Affordable Care Act and EPA regulations. If you are like me, and you run across an article entitled “Contraception gave us divorce and gay ‘marriage’ and will destroy us: here’s how”… you have to click. It’s from the anti-abortion site, Life Site News, and provides a fascinating window into the some of the darker corners of the pro-life world. Read more
In June of last year, Christy O’Donnell was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. By time it was discovered, the cancer had spread to her brain and tumors had developed in one lung. Over the course of a number of treatments, O’Donnell, a Los Angeles attorney, has extended her initial prognosis, but death is the inevitable outcome. Her doctor told her she is likely to die by “drowning in her own fluids” from her lung cancer, she says. O’Donnell is campaigning for end-of-life rights in her home state, so that, when the time comes, she can die on her own terms with her daughter at her side. She is working with the same group, Compassion and Choices, that helped publicize Brittany Maynard’s story last year. On Sunday, Fox & Friends discussed O’Donnell’s situation with Father Jonathan Morris. Host Anna Kooiman posed this question: Well now a single mother in California with terminal cancer is campaigning for the very same right, to end her battle at home with her daughter. But is this plan, is it a brave plan or a cowardly plan? Read more
