Preacher: I Lost My Passport and Have to Wait for a New One. THAT’S PERSECUTION!

Passports are a pain the butt. You have to get your picture, you have to fill out the paperwork, you have to mail it in, you have to wait for it to be processed. But that’s true for everyone with rare exceptions.

Right-wing preacher and MAGA cultist Lance Wallnau is not one of those exceptions. When he lost his passport, he (not surprisingly) wasn’t able to get a replacement on the same day. So now he’s telling the world he’s a victim of persecution.

… I’m beginning to wonder if it was political… I was wondering if I was singled out for a reason…

Spoiler: It wasn’t. He wasn’t. If you’re not a fan of bureaucracy, welcome to the club, but having to wait in line for something (the horror!) doesn’t make you a victim.

The whole incident actually shows how Wallnau has an awfully inflated view of himself that he thinks he’s so famous and recognizable that everyone should know who he is. How tirade also brings to mind the expression, “Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.”

Wallnau will likely be fine. He’ll get what he needs before it’s too late because even the government can work quickly if it needs to — and it helps that Wallnau has a friend in Congress aware of the situation, which is a privilege not everyone has.

But sure, let’s blame politics. That’s the solution for all conservative grievance, isn’t it?
