Hate-Preacher: A Christian Who Celebrates Pride Month is “Not a Christian”

There’s no shortage of anti-gay hate-preachers out there, and every time one of them calls for the death of LGBTQ people, the others immediately follow trying to out-bigot their friends. So after Pastor Jonathan Shelley celebrated the death of a gay man at a Pride parade, Pastor Jason Robinson decided to take the baton.

In a sermon yesterday, the head of Mountain Baptist Church in Fairmont, West Virginia denounced Pride month and said he’s going to continue calling for the death of gay people even if it’s not “in season” in popular culture. And then he trashed any “Christian” who dares to celebrate Pride month.

… if you think this LGBTQ-AARP-MICKEY, you know, alphabet community is just about being with the same sex, then your head is in the sand like an ostrich. And you know what? It’s offensive — obviously — to preach Leviticus 20:13, which say that if a man also lies with mankind as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination and should surely be put to death, their blood should be upon them. You know what? That’s not in season today, but it needs to be preached! Especially when we got done with Pride Queer Month…

Since when did June get defiled? And I had to see all the stuff, you know, all these companies put up these rainbow flags and put out this trans crap, and then my kids had to see all this stuff that’s around. It’s just disgusting. And you know what? June has just become a month of filth… You know what? Read your Bible and tell me that we should be celebrating some Pride month! And, you know, any Christian that would celebrate Pride month should just be… just take that name off. You’re not a Christian

It goes without saying that plenty of Christians would disagree with that assessment. They would also take issue with Robinson’s slippery slope argument that connects an acceptance of consensual same-sex relationships with pedophilia and bestiality.

No one thinks about pedophilia and bestiality more than men like Jason Robinson.

These comments aren’t even that extreme within the New Independent Fundamentalist Baptist community. But it’s disturbing that anyone in the church might actually take him seriously. How long do we have to wait for someone in that congregation to snap and decide it’s better to play God rather than wait for God’s judgment?
