Eric Metaxas: The Biden Administration is “Satanically Bad” for Christians

For someone who wrote a book on a German pastor martyred by Nazis, racist, Trump-loving, anti-vaccine sucker-puncher Eric Metaxas has a hard time recognizing legitimate persecution the modern era.

In a recent radio interview with fellow conspiracy theorist Greg Locke, the men talked about how Joe Biden‘s presidency will be “satanically bad” for Christians:

“What is coming out of this is revival,” Metaxas said.

“I believe it’s coming through the back door of persecution,” Locke replied, saying that he recently spoke to a Christian from China who said that Chinese Christians are “praying for America to see persecution because that will bring the revival.”

“When this thing happened with the election and then everything that has happened subsequently, this nightmare,” Metaxas responded, “I think it is God’s mercy. It is a wake-up call, not just to the church, but to your average American to say, ‘Wow, look how bad it can get.’ We didn’t think it could get this bad. We think it’s just kind of going back to the way it was under George W. Bush or something. It is such a waking nightmare. That it is the one thing that I think God uses in history — we see it in scripture — to wake his people up.”

“If you don’t know what it is to suffer and to go in the wrong direction, you’re sleepwalking. And most Americans — we’ve been so blessed, we’ve been sleepwalking — we need to understand that it can get satanically bad.

Imagine how delusional you have to be to live through four years of Donald Trump and come away thinking things are a nightmare now.

Biden may not be an approved type of Christian to people like Metaxas and Locke, but it’s hard to take their fears seriously when the Supreme Court is stacked with conservative Christians, when Christians of different stripes represent nearly 90% of all Congress members, and when Christian privilege is all around us.

If the status quo is a nightmare for Metaxas, which non-Christian group would he like to trade places with?

Furthermore, Biden’s outward demonstrations of faith have a much longer track record than that of Trump. That is to say, Biden attends church even when the cameras aren’t rolling. He’s not faking it for a photo op.

These men fear being on an equal playing field with non-Christians under the law. When you’re so used to getting special treatment, anything less can feel like persection.
