Here’s How Evangelical Churches Strategically Keep You Coming Back for More

Drew McCoy (a.k.a. Genetically Modified Skeptic) went to church three times a week as a child and understands evangelical culture as much as any current believer.

In his latest video, he takes you through a church service… but narrates it as if it were a nature documentary.

Rather than treat that premise as a lengthy joke, he walks us through how churches manipulate members’ emotions to convince them God is real and watching over everyone. (The section on worship music alone is worth it.)

What’s amazing is how many churches follow the same formula. The “emotional priming” is designed to bring people back even if they don’t realize what’s happening. But it’s not God pulling those strings. It’s the church leaders, following well-known strategies.
