Televangelist and apparent lawn expert Pat Robertson said on The 700 Club today that putting a statue of Buddha in your front yard will bring upon curses because it’s a false idol.
No word yet on what chaos all those lawn gnomes will cause.
After telling the woman who asked the question that she shouldn’t say anything to her neighbor about the statue, he urged her not to do the same in her own yard.
… I think having an image of a false God — but Buddha wasn’t a God; he was supposedly a teacher, but I guess some people thought he was a God — but nevertheless, a statue of a false God in your garden… I don’t think that’s appropriate. Yes, it’ll bring curses upon you, alright?
Well… that’s convincing. I would love to know what kind of curses I’ll suffer before making a final decision, but I guess I’ll just have to put one up and see what happens.
