Christian Conspiracists: Satan is Using Vaccines to Get Revenge via Depopulation

If you haven’t had your fill of conspiracy theories yet, have a listen to right-wing pastor Tony Spell, the anti-vaxxer and anti-masking head of Louisiana’s Life Tabernacle Church, chat with Alex Jones about how the weather is apparently controlled by the U.N. and (yawn) how COVID vaccines are a tool of Satan:

SPELL: They’re gonna have the answer for all the chaos and turmoil and the weather problems that are actually being controlled right now by…

JONES: I was about to say they have a huge secret government weather control program at the U.N. that they admit exist… They’re orchestrating the global depopulation collapse, and they’re gonna blame it on, again, the general public. Why does Satan want depopulation?

SPELL: He wants depopulation because he wants revenge against the human race, because we took his place. God made man in His image and after His likeness. The [COVID] shot actually affects your DNA… it actually changes the molecular structure of humans who are created in God’s image and after His likeness. That’s why the government is wanting to push this vaccine so heavily…

I would ask for citations, but look at who’s talking.

Obviously none of this makes sense. If the fear is depopulation, then getting the vaccine against a deadly virus would presumably defeat Satan, no? If the government wanting you to get the vaccine is such a bad thing, then why weren’t conservative Christians complaining when the Trump administration promoted Operation Warp Speed? If our DNA is supposedly changing, then how come Spell and Jones can’t explain what’s changed?

They’re lying because they know they can get away with it. Their audiences will never question what they say.

Having gotten the vaccine myself, I assure you my DNA is the same as before. What’s more, anecdotes about the vaccine’s effectiveness are almost irrelevant at this point because the data speaks for itself. Hospital ICU beds aren’t overwhelmed to capacity with the vaccinated. Places with higher vaccination rates are seeing fewer COVID-related deaths and hospitalizations. And if the government is pushing vaccines, it’s only because it’s safer for everyone (and better for the economy and returning to “normal”).

If Spell and Jones are so concerned about “depopulation,” you would think they’d stop trying to kill off their own base.
