Anti-Gay Christian Can’t Handle Pete Buttigieg: “We’ve Got To Expose Him”

There are a lot of qualities to appreciate when it comes to South Bend, Indiana mayor and Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg: He’s young, incredibly smart, a veteran, someone with governing experience, a midwesterner who can talk about religion without being off-putting about it, etc.

But for anti-LGBTQ activists, only one thing matters: He’s gay.

It’s almost hilarious watching them trying to turn that into a point of contention even though it’s one of the least interesting things about him. For many Democrats, it’s a celebration of progress that his sexual orientation isn’t a dealbreaker. What matters are his positions and electability.

Peter LaBarbera, founder of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality (a group that lies about homosexuality), is doing all he can to warn people about why Buttigieg’s gayness would somehow be a problem in the White House.

“I think conservatives should be watching out for Buttigieg because he’s young, [he’s] charismatic, he’s homosexual,” states LaBarbera. “So the Millennials will be inclined to support him because [they] are so lost on that issue [of homosexuality]. He’s got all the things that Millennials like and the media will support him, so we have to watch out for this guy — and we’ve got to expose him.”

According to LaBarbera, it would be disastrous if Buttigieg, a homosexual activist, somehow got elected.

“He’s proudly gay and he talks about it in his book. He talks about his — quote, unquote — ‘husband,'” the family advocate continues. “I mean, the president is a role model — and imagine if you had a [homosexual] president and instead of having a first lady you had a ‘first husband’ for a man?

You can’t “expose” someone who’s already out of the closet…

His “quote, unquote” husband is freaking amazing on Twitter.

And it’s not that hard to imagine a “first husband.” You just think of a first lady… but now it’s a guy. See? Easy.

What’s really entertaining is seeing far-right bigots pretend that a President Buttigieg would represent some low point in American history… even though have you seen the Republican in the White House right now?!

Should that ever happen, LaBarbera says it would be “symbolic of America’s utter moral depravity and our moral decline [and] how we have fallen.

Yes. I’m sure we’ll all long for the good old days when we had President Pussy Grabber and his Merry Band of Evangelicals…

Having a gay president would be worth it just to see the Religious Right in a constant state of apoplexy over nothing. Their imaginations would be in constant overdrive as their create Christian fan fiction about whatever they think is happening in the Lincoln Bedroom.
