Conservatives aren’t always known for keeping their priorities straight: they get more upset over same-sex marriage and the “Holocaust” of abortion than, say, actual babies being ripped from their parents’ arms at the border.
You can now add “Freaking out about a pop song” to that list.
Singer Ariana Grande‘s new song “God is a Woman” is causing quite a stir on social media, with some religious people upset by the insinuation that God is literally female.
God is neither man nor woman. But let's examine the argument. If you say that sex shows God is a woman, what does disproportionate female osteoporosis show? https://t.co/0MGDdJyBp8

God is not a woman maybe your "god" is. But not the God of the bible. The true and Loving God.

God isn’t a woman or a man He’s God. There was no such thing as man or woman until He decided to create them on Earth in His image. These people don’t know what they’re doing with their blasphemy

I see alot of tweets that are disrespecting God and its really sad. God is not a woman He is the King of Kings and The Lord of Lords. He is God The Father God The Son and God The Holy Spirit and his name is LORD Jesus.

Of course, the song is less a theological statement than it is an empowerment anthem for women. The lyrics are obviously references to a woman’s sexuality — “when we’re done / You’ll believe God is a woman.” Are the critics seriously taking theology lessons from Grande? I doubt churches will be emptier as a result of a song that’s just fun to listen and dance to.
Plus, she has a point. As George Carlin once said, “If there is a God, I am convinced He is a He, because no woman could or would ever fuck things up this badly.”
