In 2015, when the Foo Fighters were playing a concert in Kansas City, the Westboro Baptist Church decided to protest outside the event in order to capitalize on the free publicity. That plan backfired, however, when the band showed up at the protest, on a pick-up truck, while playing Rick Astley‘s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” It took the attention away from the Christian extremists and turned it into a giant dance party.
They just did it again.
On Thursday, playing in Bonner Springs, Kansas, the Westboro Baptist Church was right there, with nasty signs in tow. And right on cue, Dave Grohl came out to steal their thunder.
Member of the homophobic, ultra-conservative, Westboro Baptist Church in KS were holding a protest of the upcoming Foo Fighters concert (devil’s music), so Dave Grohl decided to roll out an epic troll by singing, “You Should be Dancin” to them the bed of a truck. pic.twitter.com/ioFTEGa7RR

Standing in an open truck, which blasted a groovy disco beat, Grohl had his own sermon to preach: “I’ve got something to say. Because you know what? I love you. I do! The way I look at it, I love everybody. Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do? Can’t you just looove everybody? Cause I think it’s about love. That’s what I think. I think we’re all about love. And you shouldn’t be hatin’. You know what y’all should be doin’? You should be dancin’!“
Some of the bigots can be seen moving to the beat. Even they couldn’t completely contain their disregard for humanity.
To quote something a YouTube said years ago, “There goes my heroes, watch them as they troll!”
