In April, a 14-year-old girl contacted the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in California and told them she had been sexually abused from the ages of 9 to 12. After three months of investigating the situation, the authorities finally made an arrest this week.
The man they locked up? Puredi Hillary, the pastor of Shiloh Tabernacle Church for the past two decades.
[Hillary] was arrested on suspicion of continuous sexual abuse of a minor and lewd acts with a child under 14, deputies said.
Authorities did not say whether the victim was a congregant at Hillary’s church.
While the church’s website has been taken down, an archived version of it says that his first name means “Pure in the eyes of God” and that he and his wife have magical powers:
God has especially gifted both of them in the prophetic, deliverance and healing anointing. Everywhere they go, lives are being transformed by the grace of God. Many have been healed of various diseases and illnesses, and some have been raised from the dead.
So he’s not just an alleged child molester, he’s a religious liar. More details about this situation are bound to come out and I’d be interested in knowing if he groomed the girl in church, what role her parents may have played in that, and what the reaction of the congregation is to all this. Will they take his side in a knee-jerk sort of way or will they accept that the man who led their movement may have have a sexual predator?
He’s currently being held in prison on a $350,000 bail with a court date scheduled for Monday.
