In case you’re wondering what church services look like in the world of Christian Nationalism, you may want to check out what John Hagee was saying this morning. The senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas used a portion of his Independence Day sermon to trash liberals and say they should catch a flight to North Korea.
After describing his political enemies as Socialists, prominent Christian Nationalist preacher John Hagee told his church today that those "who do not love America" should catch a flight to North Korea since "we don't need you and we don't want you." pic.twitter.com/B2WmNA8W0i

… A political cancer has invaded our beloved country. It’s the cancer of socialism. And I’ve said before and will say again, Socialism is nothing but Communism with lipstick. To those of you who do not love America, who do not appreciate the river of blood that has been shed to keep the flag of freedom flying over our beloved nation, there are planes leaving America every hour for Russia and China and North Korea. Get on one! We don’t need you and we don’t want you!
Of course, the liberals he’s railing against aren’t promoting Socialism as practiced in those countries, which Hagee might understand if he ever cared to tell his congregation the truth. (Also, no, there are not planes flying to North Korea “every hour.” Or every week. Or every month. There are exactly zero planes flying from the U.S. to North Korea.)
And I’ll go ahead and say it’s not very Christlike to say about any group of people, “We don’t need you and we don’t want you!” Not that Hagee cares. Jesus isn’t the focus of his ministry.
You would think a guy who ignored the seriousness of COVID, then caught COVID, then was hospitalized for COVID, then credited his recovery to a vaccine whose “name is Jesus Christ” would be a little more careful when discussing cancers invading anything. Medicine isn’t his strong suit. Neither is politics, for that matter.
But this garbage is being fed to thousands of gullible Christians.
