I guess it was an unusual mission trip.
A pastor, his son, and a member of their church have all been arrested for their involvement in the Capitol insurrection.
The pastor is James Cusick of Global Outreach Ministries in Melbourne, Florida. Casey Cusick is the son. And David Lesperance is the church member. They were arrested on Thursday in connection with their participation in the riot.
According to the arresting documents, an anonymous tipster sent a letter to the FBI alleging their involvement — along with photos and other corroborating documents. Further questioning and pictures and videos from the riots confirmed their participation.
All three men have been charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority, disorderly or disruptive conduct and “violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol Grounds.”
According to Florida Today, all three men made their initial appearance Thursday afternoon at the U.S. District Court in Orlando and were released on $25,000 bonds. The conditions of their release include submitting to DNA collection, surrendering passports, no possession of firearms and restricted travel.
Turns out liberals weren’t taking away their guns. They took care of that themselves.
The church — which may be a home church rather than one with a building and a large following — has taken down its social media pages, and the men declined to comment when contacted by the Christian Post. For a group of people who claim to follow a book that teaches people to “turn the other cheek,” these men are either bad Christians or bad readers.
Maybe the best thing we can hope for is that the person who turned them in was someone in their own religious circle. At least that might suggest they’re not all part of some MAGA cult.
