Conspiracist: I Pretend to Be a Nurse, Then Make People Argue With Me Over Masks

Conservative activist and conspiracy theorist DeAnna Lorraine, who recently said she wouldn’t get a COVID-19 vaccine even if Jesus were to take it, isn’t a fan of masks either.

Speaking of the decision by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to lift his state’s mask mandate before everyone has been vaccinated, Lorraine told her audience that she was going a step further by dressing up in medical scrubs, entering businesses without a mask, and demanding that employees and customers convince her why wearing masks is helpful.

It goes without saying that Lorraine has never studied at any medical school.

“Today was the first day basically that the governor of the state that I’m in right now — the governor of Texas — issued an executive order saying that we will no longer have or need a mask mandate in all of Texas,” Lorraine said. “Today was basically day one, and that’s why I’m wearing a nurse’s outfit because I’m going around and I’m videotaping me going to different stores, restaurants, department stores, bars, etc… and videotaping people’s reactions to me not wearing a mask and having them try to educate a doctor or a nurse on how masks save lives.”

“Tell me, a doctor or a nurse, how masks somehow save lives,” said Lorraine, who is neither a doctor nor a nurse. “You go ahead, you Walmart store clerk, you go ahead, you grocery store bagger, and you tell me something that I don’t know already — you try to school me on something that I went to school for.”

According to her LinkedIn page, Lorraine got a bachelor’s degree in “Organizational Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Psychology” from a state school in California. There’s nothing wrong with any of that, but none of it makes her an expert on masks. The people she’s apparently confronting aren’t experts either. But most people would likely listen to the doctors who have been saying repeatedly that masks are a vital tool against the virus.

Even more than that, besides deliberately risking both her health and the health of others, she’s going after overworked, underpaid employees who already suffer verbal abuse from terrible customers. If she’s videotaping them for a “gotcha” moment, it’s only making a bad situation worse.

For someone already scraping the bottom of the barrel, Lorraine found a stunt that beneath even her.
