In a stunning new ad from the group Republican Voters Against Trump — i.e. Not the Lincoln Project — a number of conservative Christians who grew up in the church make the argument that Donald Trump is simply using them for their votes while rejecting the basic principles of their faith.
(To which everyone else will respond, “We know. We’ve been telling you this for years.”)
Better late than never, I guess…?
This is, in my opinion, the most moving ad we’ve made with the @RVAT2020 testimonials.

Speaking of Trump’s pathetic photo op outside a church that required the tear-gassing of peaceful protesters, one man in the video notes, “The moment that he held up that Bible, he revealed this president is using us. Christians have to resist being used to justify things that Jesus would never justify.”
He’s right. It’s true of Trump and it’s true of every Republican who supports Trump’s policies… which is practically every Republican. They all need to be voted out.
Remember that while 81% of white evangelicals voted for Trump in 2016, and while 82% said they would still vote for him if the elections were held today, even a small erosion of that base, especially in swing states, could have enormous consequences.
It’s about time these ads focused on the utter hypocrisy of the Christian Right, even if it means listening to some evangelicals finally admitting what the rest of us have known for years now.
They should run more ads like this. Maybe next time, they’ll even find some Christian women willing to speak.
