Did you know South Korea and the United States have the lowest COVID-19 death rates? It’s true!
(It’s not true in general, and it’s certainly not true when you consider all the under-reporting.)
And do you know why it’s true?!
(It’s not true.)
Because South Korea and the United States pray more than everyone else.
(Also not true.)
That’s according to right-wing pastor Rick Joyner, the head of MorningStar Ministries:
… yesterday, I mentioned the encouraging stats on how, you know, the whole world has been experiencing a death rate of about 4% to almost 10% for everyone who gets the coronavirus — except for the U.S. and South Korea.
Now you can’t expect our government — we can’t expect the media — to ever understand why America and South Korea have a 1.3% and 1.2% death, why it is so much lower.
But I’ll tell you why: South Korea, which has the lowest in the world, lowest death rate from coronavirus, about 1/3 less than… except for the U.S….
So how are ours so low? These are the two strongest nations in prayer!
South Korea, I think, is the strongest nation in the world in prayer today and have been for a long time…
All of that is a lie: the premise and the defense. We’re not the most Christian country in the world even if you just base that on percentage of believers. And we’re certainly not less immune to the virus. If anything, the number of pastors who are defying scientists and continuing to hold worship — along with the GOP politicians they often elect, who refuse to take action to hasten the spread of the disease — are doing more to support the virus than the people affected by it.
But when your entire career is based on lying to people, why let a lethal virus get in the way of your narrative?
