Jerry Falwell, Jr. Falsely Claims Coronavirus May Be a North Korean Bioweapon

Speaking on Fox & Friends this morning, Trump cultist and Christian Nationalist Jerry Falwell, Jr. suggested the coronavirus wasn’t a big deal at all and might have been created by North Korea in order to punish Donald Trump… even though it’s spreading across the world.

(It’s not clear when Falwell asked a pool boy to pull that theory out of his ass.)

“It makes you wonder if there’s a political reason for that,” Falwell said. “Impeachment didn’t work, and the Mueller report didn’t work, and Article 25 (sic) didn’t work, and so maybe now this is their next attempt to get Trump.”

“The North Korean president promised a Christmas present for America back in December, could it be that they got together with China and this is that present?” he asked. “I don’t know but there really is something strange going on.”

Meanwhile, Liberty University hasn’t canceled classes or any large upcoming gatherings. Which is the direct result of being run by a man who thinks science is some kind of anti-Christian hoax.

The Mormon Church, Joel Osteen, and various other leaders of large religious ministries have canceled services in the foreseeable future, but Falwell, fellow Trump fawner Robert Jeffress, and Prestonwood Baptist Pastor Jack Graham are still planning to create space for the virus to spread.

Science denial isn’t just intellectual malpractice. These people are putting their own ministries’ members in danger. They don’t care. Whatever keeps the cash and adulation rolling in.
