In Wake of Pandemic He Made Worse, Trump Calls for “National Day of Prayer”

After spending weeks lying about the seriousness of the coronavirus, even labeling it a Democratic hoax before, today, declaring a National Emergency over it, Donald Trump is calling for a National Day of Prayer on Sunday.

It is my great honor to declare Sunday, March 15th as a National Day of Prayer. We are a Country that, throughout our history, has looked to God for protection and strength in times like these….

….No matter where you may be, I encourage you to turn towards prayer in an act of faith. Together, we will easily PREVAIL!

Why ask everyone to pray? Because calling out to God in a time of crisis is the easiest way to pretend to do something while accomplishing absolutely nothing.

What does he think will happen if people pray? COVID-19 will realize many Americans believe in God and then… just disappear?!

As we learned this afternoon, Trump will never take responsibility for a pandemic that he made worse by ignoring and dismissing the virus.

It’s also a way to make sure white evangelicals remain on his side over these next few weeks when they will have every reason to begin abandoning him in droves. His utter ineptitude is even causing their churches to cancel services. You can blame Democrats for a lot of things — and FOX News viewers will fall for it every time — but diseases don’t belong to a political party. This one’s on him. Trump can’t blame the response on anyone but his own administration, no matter how hard he tries.

So why not pray? It’s not like anything else he’s doing is working.

And there’s nothing Trump loves more than getting credit for attaching his name to something no one needs.

"The way republican politics are going these days, that means the winner is worse than ..."

"It would have been more convincing if he used then rather than than."
