Franklin Graham, Without Irony, Defends Trump By Saying God “Detests Lying Lips”

Donald Trump‘s favorite evangelical fanboy Franklin Graham is already spreading misinformation about the impeachment hearings taking place today. The fact that it’s bipartisan is irrelevant to Graham, who’s already convinced the Ukraine bribery scandal is a hoax, much like whatever the Mueller Report was about. (Don’t bother asking him for details. Like the Bible, no amount of legitimate criticism will ever dissuade him from her preconceived beliefs.)

Graham told his eight million Facebook followers that the source of the problem isn’t Trump’s complete lack of ethics or respect for the presidency, but rather the “liberal media” for reporting on any of it.

It’s all about politics and winning the election, they don’t care about anything else. They are scared to death of conservative values and threatened because President Trump can’t be pushed around and intimidated politically or personally. The lies of the progressive left and the hyper-liberal media are what is a serious threat to the future of our nation.

The media has literally been quoting Trump, or the people close to Trump, or the people who have worked with Trump since this particular scandal began. If you don’t believe the whistleblower, then listen to the people who say they heard Trump demand a personal favor in exchange for military aid already promised by Congress to Ukraine. If you don’t want to listen to them, then stop pretending you’re interested in the truth.

Then, without any apparent irony, Graham concluded his post by quoting the Bible:

The Bible tells us, “The Lord detests lying lips…” (Proverbs 12:22).

If that were true, then Trump would’ve been struck by lightning on a daily basis ever since he began his presidential campaign — and arguably long before that, too.

If Graham has a problem with lying (which he doesn’t), then he ought to welcome today’s bipartisan inquiry during which Republicans and Democrats will be allowed to ask questions. But he’s not interested in the truth. Like Trump, he’s only interested in covering it up.

By the way, if Graham read the Bible, he would know that Proverbs 12:21 says “The wicked have their fill of trouble.” That would be the more appropriate verse for today.
