Prolific Christian author Dr. Michael Brown has written a number of books with compelling titles, including Donald Trump Is Not My Savior, Not Afraid of the Antichrist, and Can You Be Gay and Christian? (Spoiler: No.)
But in his latest work — Jezebel’s War With America: The Plot to Destroy Our Country and What We Can Do To Turn the Tide — the titular Jezebel refers to a “demonic force” carrying out a “satanic plot” to destroy America:
In twenty-first-century America, Jezebel is not a person. But it’s as if the spirit of Jezebel is alive again today. The influence of the same demonic force is being felt in the massive increase of pornography and sexual temptation, the militant spirit of abortion, the rise of radical feminism, and most importantly, in the attempt to silence prophetic voices. Just as Jezebel clashed with strong men almost three thousand years ago, the demonic spirit of Jezebel is powerful in America, and it is going after the church.
Within the pages, Brown blames “the spirit of Jezebel” for what he sees as some of America’s most major problems today, including “the war on gender distinctions,” “the rise of witchcraft,” “the spirit of baby-killing,” and “the sexual seduction of America.”
The Jezebel of the Bible, described in Brown’s book as “the most wicked woman in the Word of God,” was the daughter of a Pagan king who married the Israelite King Ahab, inciting him to idolatry, the murder of innocents, and the persecution of prophets. She was ultimately vanquished by the warrior Jehu, a figure who Brown explicitly likens to Donald Trump:
Interestingly, just as Jezebel was on a collision course with Jehu, the bull-in-a-china-shop king of Israel, the spirit of Jezebel is on a collision course with Donald Trump, the bull-in-a-china-shop president of the United States. His presidency, for better or worse, has mobilized millions of proabortion, anti-male feminists who rage in the streets, calling for his death and literally pounding on the doors of congressional buildings in protest of his pro-life court appointees.
While Brown has a lot to say about a variety of issues, he seems to return most frequently to a certain preoccupation with Jezebel’s “emasculating” and “castrating” aspects. He exhorts male readers to “regain their manhood” from the demonic Jezebel spirit, assuring them that…
… It doesn’t matter what has spiritually or emotionally castrated you in the past, be it your upbringing or dynamics in your marriage or denominational politics or a moral failure. Jesus is a redeemer and a restorer, and with His help you can become a real man, a biblical man, a godly man.
As for women, he recommends accepting men’s primary authority and avoiding the temptation to become “male-hating lesbians.” Apparently only strict traditional gender roles will save America from Jezebel’s demonic attacks.
Well, that and Donald Trump. And maybe also God or Jesus or something.
As long as those uppity women get back in their place.
