Modesty-Preaching Baptist Teacher Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Underage Boy

A 49-year-old kindergarten teacher at Jordan Baptist School in Burbank, Illinois was arrested this week after authorities said she sexually assaulted an underage student, sent him and another student nude photos and videos, asked the first student to send some back in return, and have I mentioned her husband is the pastor who runs the school and two of her daughters also teach there?

[Shannon] Griffin, who taught kindergarten, is charged with five counts of criminal sexual assault, one count of solicitation of child pornography, one count of distribution of harmful materials and one count of grooming. She is due in bond court Wednesday.

The boys in question were 15 and 16 when the abuse occurred.

Griffin was also, apparently, known around school as being the teacher who told girls to dress more modestly.

She would write me up and other girls and, like, how ironic that you’re telling us how to dress, us how to be modest, and be Christian women, and you turn around doing the exact opposite,” said [2014 graduate Yhaneera] Aparicio-Aramas.

As the old saying goes, conservative Christians often warn students against becoming the type of people they are behind closed doors.

Incidentally, the husband, Thomas Griffin, graduated from Hyles-Anderson College, which was run by a pastor named Jack Schaap, who lost his job after sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

Same story. Same kind of church. Same kind of crime. It’s incredible that parents would still permit their kids to have any connection to these people given all the safety hazards.

Her bond has been set at $750,000. For now, the school’s website is shut down. It’s possible the school will be closed for good after this.
