Christian ministry The Gospel Coalition is known for its provocative, clickbait-y articles, but this tweet stood out.
See if you can guess why.
The point of Hosea isn’t missionary dating. It’s that you’re a whore, but God loves you anyway. https://t.co/IwXpfAfEbE

Nothing to see here. Just God calling you a whore.
The tweet and the corresponding article are so heinously ridiculous, you almost wonder if it’s a Christian satire site. It’s not. The article is about why God told a biblical character to marry an “immoral woman” (answer: to spread the gospel) and what that means for us today: “The point is that you’re a whore, but God loves you despite your whoring.”
There’s nothing better than unconditional love from someone who verbally abuses you…
Incidentally, Jesus didn’t slut-shame the woman at the well who had five different husbands, or the one caught in adultery whom the townspeople wanted to stone.
So why is The Gospel Coalition reveling in calling women names? (Don’t answer that. It’s rhetorical.)
Since we can’t trust them for sensible advice, though, at least we can enjoy the responses to that message on Twitter:

"maybe if we insult women enough they'll follow our teachings"
"But sir, women nowadays see themselves as people"
"WE CAN DREAM, DAMMIT!"

We can only hope those responses represent the mentality of the next generation of evangelicals.
