During Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, a performance from the musical The Prom generated all kinds of outrage from the Christian Right because two of the characters shared a same-sex kiss at the end of the routine.
The proper response would’ve been, “Aww, that looks like a cute show.”
The conservative Christian response was, “HIDE YOUR KIDS SO THEY DON’T SEE THIS TRAVESTY!”
It’s the sort of outrage the same people never seem to have after a school shooting. But a gay couple kissing? That could ruin someone’s childhood innocence.
Linda Harvey of Mission America couldn’t handle the “homosexual agenda” that was “thrust into America’s face.”
This agenda is like an airborne infection that’s suddenly everywhere. From “LGBT” affirming church youth groups, to “gay”-affirming anti-bullying school lessons, to rainbow “pride” apparel sold at Target and Walmart during the spring and summer, to the obligatory pro-homosexual article in the daily newspaper, to disturbed transvestites reading to preschoolers in libraries. It seems to be critically important to stick it to our children, all in the name of phony “tolerance” and “acceptance,” embracing sins leading to personal disaster, societal destruction and spiritual death.
… I mourn the simple sweetness of mom/dad families and uncomplicated friendships, of holidays that cultivated wholesome childhood unmarred by the shadow of hateful, sexual fascism…
Things are about to get much worse. The parade decadence is just the latest example, as Satan transforms himself into an angel of light, even with smiling affirmation of celebrities and all the brilliance of Broadway.
Todd Starnes, who can’t get through a day without thinking about what gay people do in their bedrooms, compiled a list of outraged people, before advising parents to “pre-tape next year’s parade — to avoid having to answer uncomfortable questions over the giblet gravy.”
What uncomfortable questions?
“Why did two women kiss?”
“Because they like each other.”
That’s it. That’s the whole conversation. It’s not complicated.
It’s only troubling when you’ve taught your kids to treat same-sex relationships as disgusting. Those are Christian problems, not human problems. Maybe if the complaining Christians were better parents, they wouldn’t have these concerns.
