An absurd bill promoted by two Christian state legislators in Wyoming, which referred to gay and lesbians unions as “parody marriages” and claimed the state shouldn’t recognize LGBT people because they were “part of the religion of secular humanism” and giving them equal rights would therefore be a violation of church/state separation, is dead dead dead dead dead.
You can read a more detailed description of the bill here, but it was just a whole series of anti-LGBT propaganda thrown into one document.
And for whatever reason, even the Republicans running the Wyoming government knew better than to bring this thing to a vote. They didn’t want their names attached to this disaster.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that subcommittee… that said, given the Republican supermajority in the state legislature, you have to feel somewhat better knowing that even conservatives won’t tolerate this extreme kind of bigotry. Unless, of course, they rejected the bill because it didn’t go far enough. I wouldn’t put that past them.
