Earlier this month, I posted about Karen Draper, a Calgary native running to become a public school board trustee.
She was a controversial candidate for many reasons, including this bizarre statement she made on Facebook blaming LGBTQ people for a recent terrorist attack in Edmonton.

LGBTQ R U 2 DUM 2 C
THE TERRORIST ATTACK IN EDMONTON IS YOUR FAULT AS WELL
To be sure, the attacker wasn’t LGBTQ. The post was just a cheap shot against a group she doesn’t like. And there was so much more where that came from.
Good news! She won’t be on the school board.
She only earned a paltry 5% of the votes in yesterday’s election:

Not even close to victory. She didn’t say much online… except for a “victory speech” when only 11 votes were in.
I wouldn’t be upset if I were her. Now, she has time before the next election to take some basic writing classes. And classes on policy. And civics. And civility. Anything, really, should help her out.
