Rep. Louie Gohmert: If Hillary Clinton Were President, Christians Like Me Would Be in Jail

If Hillary Clinton won the election — I know, I know, it’s painful to think about, but bear with me — then one thing is abundantly clear to GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert: Christians like him would be in jail right now. Because logic.

“That night of the election, I’d already come to grips,” Gohmert said, “the U.S Commission on Civil Rights says that Christians are the biggest hate group threat in America, in essence. And you had Hillary, who wants to make it a crime to say anything negative about radical Islam, and Loretta Lynch [who] were in favor of [making it] a crime to question man-made global warming.

After making this series of false statements, Gohmert said that he told his wife on the night of the election that “if it doesn’t go well, I’m probably going to be in jail within four years because I’m going to be part of the Christian-loving group that they say is hateful,” and so Trump’s election has “just been such a relief.”

To recap: Gohmert thinks Clinton would have jailed him for being a Christian, even though she’s a Christian, and it’d be a crime to criticize Islam, even though the First Amendment is routinely defended by liberals, and science denial would be a punishable offense, even though that’s never stopped Republicans before.

I’m sure she would’ve imprisoned him right after President Obama took away his guns…

But that’s a Texas Republican for you: He lies constantly and gets away with it because the only people more ignorant than he is are the people who voted him into office.
