If you saw any clips from Thursday’s town hall meeting with Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), they probably featured people booing or asking about the Affordable Care Act. But one question from a little girl didn’t get much air time, and that’s disappointing, since it was an excellent one (1:07:30 mark).
GIRL: What are you doing to protect the water and air for my generation and my kids generation?… Do you believe in science? Because I do!
Chaffetz responded with a wishy-washy “I don’t pretend to have all the answers” before saying he supported a variety of energy sources, including coal. (The crowd wasn’t having it.)
If he answered the question about believing in science, I couldn’t hear it. Which would make sense since lying about the facts is one of Chaffetz’s strong suits. After all, he’s the guy who used this absolutely misleading chart to pretend that Planned Parenthood wasn’t providing non-abortion care to patients:
A guy who hates facts isn’t a guy who accepts science.
