If Our Calendar Accurately Reflected the Beginning of Human History, What Year Would It Be?

I suspect there are people who think that, because we live in the year 2016, humans have only been around for that long. They would be wrong, of course, actually downplaying the length of time our species has been thriving by around 10,000 years.

It leads to an interesting question: If we could retroactively change our calendars, what would be a good starting point? Forget the supposed birth of Jesus. At what point did human history really begin?
