Yesterday, as wildfires tore through parts of East Tennessee, a Dollywood employee performing clean-up duties found a piece of paper underneath a bench… and wouldn’t you know it, it was a page from the Bible. Somewhat burned. But just clear enough to make out some of the verses.

Isaac McCord, who discovered the paper (“Talk about goosebumps…”), cited a few of the legible passages (from Joel 1) on Facebook, much to the delight of thousands of Christians who called it a miracle.
He didn’t mention that Joel 1 is the section about a plague of locusts and includes the phrase “Surely the people’s joy is withered away.” Not exactly the sign from God anyone ought to be hoping for…
If you find it odd that Christians are celebrating the piece of paper while probably thinking the wildfire itself was part of God’s Will, well, you’re not alone.
