Here’s some unsolicited advice for Christians: If you’re in a restaurant where other decent people also dine, you probably shouldn’t talk about your “awful gay nephew that you need to pray for.”

A woman named Natalie, who worked at the Human Rights Campaign, overheard that conversation. She didn’t butt in. She didn’t try to start an argument. Instead, she paid for their meal and left a note on their receipt:
Happy holidays from the very gay, very liberal table sitting next to you.
Jesus made me this way.
No word on the Christian diners’ reactions — Natalie left before she could see — but feel free to use your imagination. And I love the tactic, too. Nothing better than letting bigoted people you’re aware of their hate by showing them love in return.
