Why Do We Vote on a Tuesday? Blame the Church

Election Day takes place the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Why is it so damn convoluted? Once again, we can blame religion, as you’ll see in this Last Week Tonight video:


If that continues to be the reason we keep elections on a Tuesday, then why not make it a national holiday? If there’s one thing we know Christians love, it’s getting a day off to celebrate their faith.
