Ohio Governor and former Presidential candidate John Kasich was in New Hampshire recently to endorse fellow Republican Chris Sununu for Governor. But a strange thing happened after his announcement.
During a tour of downtown Exeter, Kasich entered a bookstore, saw a Harry Potter book, and shared his irrational thoughts about Daniel Radcliffe, the openly non-religious actor who played Potter in the movies:
“You know that Daniel [Radcliffe] has declared himself an atheist?” Kasich said to no one in particular. “I’m serious. What a weird thing. Why would a guy who has had all that success just, I mean, what the hell is wrong with him?”
What does that even mean?
But the bigger issue here is that Kasich thinks there’s something “wrong” or “weird” with being an atheist. It’s not a difference of opinion; he feels they’re inferior to him.
If that’s what a moderate Republican sounds like, no wonder that whole party is in disarray right now.
