Pastor Steven Anderson: I Don’t Say the Pledge Because I Won’t Promote Abortion and Homosexuality

I think we all just found common ground with hate-Pastor Steven Anderson: He doesn’t want to say the Pledge of Allegiance, either.

But that’s where the overlap ends. Atheists might not say it because of the “Under God” phrase, or because we oppose mindless rituals, or because we know we don’t really have “justice for all.”

Anderson doesn’t want to say it because America’s too liberal.

PledgeAnderson

One nation, corrupt, perverted, promoting abortion and homosexuality to all. Not gonna do it, my friend. Get mad at me. Quit the church…

I don’t want anything to do with sodomy. It’s wicked. I don’t want anything to do with abortion. I don’t want anything to do with the things that our country is starting to stand for…

The problem with making an oath or pledge or affirmation is that you might sit there and pledge allegiance, right? And then, like, 30 years later, what happens when that country is a totally different place? What happens when that country stands for something totally different? And you’ve already pledged allegiance to it. I mean, we don’t want to do that. We don’t want to get wrapped up in that…

You know, it’s not like the pledge is a binding contract…

Anderson’s problem with the Pledge is that America has too much justice. We allow women to make decisions about their bodies, and we let people marry the person they love. Can’t have that now, can we?
