Animal Psychic Claims to Have a Message From Cecil the Lion

A woman who calls herself a psychic medium (a.k.a. a person who preys on the vulnerability of grieving people for financial gain) has contrived a clever gimmick to grow her business.

Karen Anderson, an “animal communicator” who charges $75 for a 15 minute session in which she claims to speak with up to two dead animals, says she has received a message from Cecil, the lion illegally murdered by an American dentist:

“Let not the actions of these few men defeat us or allow darkness to enter our hearts. If we do then we become one of them. Raise your vibration and allow this energy to move us forward. What happened does not need to be discussed as it is what it is. Take heart my child, I am finer than ever, grander than before as no one can take our purity, our truth or our soul. Ever. I am here. Be strong and speak for all the others who suffer needlessly to satisfy human greed. Bring Light and Love and we will rise above this.”

Oh, she’s good.

I can’t help but read that in the deep, slow voice of Mufasa from The Lion King. Just imagine the wise and noble-sounding baritone of James Earl Jones saying, “I am here. Be strong and speak for all the others who suffer needlessly to satisfy human greed.” (In proper English.)

It’s ironic, really, that last part about human greed. Especially since Cecil conveyed his message through a medium who wants more than $200 an hour (and an additional $15 for a recording) from people who are irrationally desperate to make contact with a deceased loved one.

The sad thing is that it’s working. This publicity stunt brought an outpouring of shares and comments from fans, thanking Karen for relaying the message to bring comfort to the world.

For example:

“Bottom dwellers”? Look who’s calling the kettle black…

At least there were skeptics:

But not many skeptics…

One thing that caught my eye on Karen Anderson’s Facebook bio is that she claims to be “Transforming non-believers one at a time.”

I’m curious: when are you going to get to me?
