After National Outcry, Missouri County Officials Won’t Lowers Flags to Mourn Marriage Equality Ruling

Yesterday, the three Christian commissioners in Dent County, Missouri announced they would lower the flags at the local Courthouse and Judicial Building to half-staff for the next twelve months… in mourning over the Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage equality.

But this morning, after a metric fuckton of national outcry, the Commissioners announced they had changed their minds:

Tuesday morning, Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles said the commission will meet in special session Tuesday or Wednesday to rescind that order “out of respect for veterans and those currently serving in the military.”

He said all three commissioners are expected to vote to rescind the decision.

Right. It’s because of the veterans. Not because it was a dick move that exposed your bigotry to the nation and you’re now trying to turn back time…

There are no plans for the Commissioners to apologize to any LGBT people they offended.
