Apparently the San Antonio Police Department conducts “morning prayer” after roll call — and then flaunts it on Facebook:
When law enforcement officials are the ones breaking the law, what hope is there for the rest of us… Really makes you want to apply for a job there, doesn’t it?
The SAPD Careers page further stated:
A daily routine here on West Patrol Daylight shift… after roll call, a daily prayer before the shift starts.
Since they don’t get it, I’ll explain: No police officers should be put in the position of either being pressured to pray to a God they don’t believe in or walking out to avoid it (and looking bad in front of everyone else, including their superiors). Individual cops are welcome to pray on their own, but it can’t be part of any official routine.
How do they not know this by now? Who knows how many officers know this is wrong but dare not say anything out of fear of losing their jobs.
