Leonard Nimoy, the actor best known for playing Mr. Spock on Star Trek, died earlier today at the age of 83.

The actor who told us to “live long and prosper” did that himself, and this obituary gives you a sense of how much he accomplished and how much he meant to his fans.
Even his final tweet gives you a sense of why people appreciated him:
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP
