Last week, I posted about a resolution passed by the Winfield City Council in Alabama — suggested and endorsed by Mayor Randy Price (below) — which declared Winfield a “City Under God” with God as the city’s “owner.”
Price wasn’t happy with the fact that I drew a lot of attention to his illegal action.
I’m not surprised that conservative Christians would want this sort of resolution to go under the radar so they don’t have to answer to the media or non-Christian constituents, but I had no idea they’d accuse me of torturing and killing someone.
Enter Jennifer LeClaire of Charisma News:
It’s no surprise that Hemant Mehta, the so-called friendly atheist, mocked Price for his bold stance for God. Mehta assured his readers that God “has better things to do” than take over our cities. Of course, Mehta doesn’t know God and cannot pretend to speak for Him — but he does seem to speak for millions of atheists. And Mehta has contacted the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which is known for launching virulent attacks on God. The atheist persecution that is already coming against Price for his bold stance for God is sickening.
So there you have it: Criticizing a public official for doing something he shouldn’t be doing is equivalent to torturing someone on the cross.
When she hyperbolizes that much, who knows what’ll happen when there’s an actual lawsuit… (“Atheists Commit Genocide Against Town of Winfield”?)
I look forward to LeClaire’s full support when a Muslim mayor somewhere announced that everyone in the area is living in a “City Under Allah.”
