The Author of an Incredible Book About the Joy of Being an Atheist Announces Film Project

Earlier this year, Chris Johnson released a multimedia book about atheists called A Better Life: 100 Atheists Speak Out on Joy & Meaning in a World Without God. The book was years in the making and came about after one of the most successful Kickstarters for a book in that site’s history. It was incredible to be a part of the project and I think the final product was just stellar.

In addition to taking pictures of atheists, Chris also shot a lot of video, and he’s embarking on a new project now to turn those clips into a feature length documentary:

The film will feature many of the faces and voices from the book as well as some new perspectives. It will also follow my journey exploring this topic, and the many ways we find joy & meaning in the world.

With the money raised, I will be able to go through the 50+ hours of footage I shot while doing the book, edit the interviews, shoot additional footage, have music composed, as well as the audio mix, post-production work, etc. For just $15, you can get a digital download copy when it’s complete. For those who can give more, there are additional rewards, such as having your name thanked in the credits of the film, and even a rare signed poster!

$15 will get you an HD digital download of the film when it’s complete!

The way Chris is putting his talent to work is just awe-inspiring. If this film gets even a shred of the care and thoughtfulness he put into the book — and I have no doubt it will — then the final product will be amazing. Help make this a reality and chip in.
