What Are You Doing for the National Week of Action? (Hint: Not Praying)

In response to May’s National Day of Prayer, those of us at Foundation Beyond Belief are promoting something called a National Week of Action. (You know, to actually make a difference.)

National Week of Action is a time for all of us, as human beings, to look in the mirror and take action — large or small — to improve the world. You and your community can #choosetoACT by fighting hunger in our communities, collecting supplies for the less fortunate, cleaning up our parks and neighborhoods, forming community task forces, holding fundraisers, organizing email- or letter-writing campaigns, volunteering in some small way to help the less fortunate among us, or even just doing something nice for a single person.

This is one of those things a lot of groups are already doing — and if you’re not, it’s a good time to start! — so please submit your actions to the database!

While the Christian Right is going on and on about the power of prayer, it would be one hell of a statement to point reporters to a list of how atheists are unclasping their hands to make the world a better place.
