Atheist Billboards Go Up in Bryan and College Station, Texas

Just in time for the big Texas A&M game against #1-ranked Alabama this weekend, the newly-formed Brazos Valley Coalition of Reason has put up four billboards in the Bryan and College Station, Texas areas (near where the game will be played):

Reaching out to the like-minded isn’t the only goal of the effort. “We want people to know that nonreligious people like us are a regular part of communities all over the state,” added Luis Fayad, a spokesperson for Brazos Valley CoR. “Nontheistic Texans are your friends and neighbors, your coworkers and family members. We believe we should be as free as anyone to express our views publicly.”

I love that one of the groups making up the Brazos Valley CoR is the Brazos Valley Vuvuzela Atheists Marching Band. That exists!

The billboards cost $6,000 and were funded by the United Coalition of Reason, a group that has now placed signs in 34 states in addition to the District of Columbia. Three of the signs in Texas will even be illuminated at night.

These billboards will be up for a month. After which, I assume, Johnny Manziel will try to autograph them.
